Display color

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Is there a way to change the display colors for formatting marks (like the dots for spaces or the paragraph symbols). They are light blue on my display and I am slightly color blind so they are very difficult to see. I't like for them to just be black.
