display custom file properties

Hello,

I want to be able to put a (text)shape on my drawingpage which
displays a value defined in the files custom properties (rightclick on
the file - properties - custom properties).

Is this possible? If so, how could this be done?
It could be great if this was compatible with older versions of Visio,
too!

I hope someone can help me with that!

Thank you!
Regards,
Uwe

double click the shape to get into text edit mode,
menu Insert -> Field and select Custom Properties.
You will then be able to select the property you want.
This facility goes back in time a long way.

Thank you Paul and John for your answers.

Yes, I mean the document properties. Or lets say, some kind of
document-based custom properties. Like available in Word. The standard
properties (Title, Keywords, etc) art not the ones I need. I want to
add my own properties to the document.

The target is, to apply these properties to the document itself and
then showing these properties on any shape the user wants them to. Is
this possible at all? It seems that properties can only be set to each
shape individual.

Thank you!

Regards,
Uwe

Paul - I wonder if Uwe is talking about document properties? Uwe - if
that's the case then you need Insert / Field... / Document Info. You might

Apologies if I've misunderstood.

Hello Uwe,

You'd need to add the functionality to your Master shapes so that as you
drag drop them onto the page the instances would reflect your new inserted
text. Take a look at this link which discusses how to create and edit
Master shapes:

Best regards

John
