Display Fonts

I_m_trying

I can't seem to get PowerPoint 2008 to recognize my selected font (one I purchased for Mac.) I format the text, see the proper font name displayed in font properties box, but can't make the font actually display on the screen/slide. The Font properties box shows the font as an option (all variations of the font as well), and I can change all other aspects of the font, but the actual font appearance stays the same (my guess is it's using Arial.) Everything appears to be properly set in Font Book

I tried using the font in Word 2008, and it works perfectly.

Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. 2008 version won't display the Korean fonts that I've been using with Office 2004.
But with Word and Excel it works fine.

Anybody have solutions?

also have a similar problem. have a bunch of slides with futura font. i opened these slides in powerpoint 2008 and it looks different. if i go to the futura font, i can see several options, i want to revert to the old futura which is called 'medium' version under the futura option, but it does not change to it.

Me too, same problem. I upgraded from Mac Office 2004 to 2008 and my .ppt file that showed the fonts correctly in the earlier version, no longer appear with the correct font. Although, the correct font name is shown as being used in Font section of the Formatting Palette. I checked and have the correct font in the Font Folder of the Library Folder on the Mac. I also put a duplicate of the font in the Font Folder of the User Library Folder but this did not correct the problem of the font not displaying properly. Help please!

I'm having this problem as well, and am currently speaking with Microsoft helpline to try and sort through the problem. Their responses so far tend to try and shift the blame to the font manufacturer, even though I've explained the fonts work perfectly in other software like Adobe's. I bought OpenType fonts so that I could put together Word and PowerPoint documents for clients on PC, but after reading the second entry in the link below, I suspect PowerPoint only supports TrueType.

Why are there no answers to this? I'm trying to convert a PPT '04 file to '08, and not only are the fonts incorrectly displayed, the alignment has altered to left align, instead of centered and the program won't let me change that--it shows that it text is centered, but on-screen it is left aligned. It is very tempting to post an abusive comment about this.
