display "from" email account

Is there any way to setup Outlook so that it behaves the same as Outlook
Express with regards to the way it displays the "from" email account that's
being used in a new email???

In OE, the "from" address shows in a drop down list right above the "to"
field of any outgoing email. And it displays the current account being used.

In Outlook you have to click on the "accounts" button in the toolbar to see
the current account. This is incredibly inconvenient since I use different
accounts all the time.

Or at least have Outlook display the "from" account like it does when you
"respond" to an email. It displays the message "this message will be sent
via account name" right above the "to" field. But it does not show this on
new emails. Obviously it uses the default account, but without it there in
front of my face it's very easy to forget to change.

Thanks for any info on this,

Rick

Rait - Open a new message go to View, and click From. The From field will
display for all new messages.

No, you can't change how outlook does it. If you show the from field, you
should see the account name in the From field on replies.

But it will contain nothing.

Thanks for the answers.

I know about the "from" field but that's obviously not what I'm talking
about.

I can't believe they made this less functional in Outlook than in Outlook
Express. It's really awkward and annoying. Does anyone know of a plugin or
third party software or customization that can add the "from email account"
field to new emails, just like (or similar to) Outlook Express???

I've searched but have come up with nothing.

There is no addin that I'm aware of that will display the sending address in
the from field on new mail... the infobar tells you the account name after
you switch accounts.
