Display Header/Footer in regular view

V

Visio123

i can set a header and footer in visio, and it shows up in print
preview. is there a way to show in the normal view, while I am
drawing? This way I dont draw over top of the header/footer? This
functionality exists in Word (you can see the header/footer while
typing).

Thanks!

Unless you really, really, really need H&Fs, use the background pages. Once
attached to a foreground page, you will see the background information as
you work on the foreground page. The background pages are also more
versatile as to what can be placed on it.

H&Fs were added around version 3.0 of Visio to address a specific problem.
Compared to background pages, they are very limited.

The H&Fs are tied to the physically printed page, not to the Visio drawing.
So if a Visio drawing prints onto more than one physical page, then each
printed page would have a header and a footer. The workaround before H&Fs
were added was to break the background page into areas that would match what
is printed on the pages. Custom Formulas were required to keep the page
numbers matching the physical pages.
