Howdy,
I am having a very odd problem with OL 2002 under XP:
Suppose my own email address is "(e-mail address removed)" (with
no quotes), and the display name for that record in Contacts
is "Bill" (with no quotes.)
If I send myself a message, I can address in a variety of
ways.
Consider these two possibilities:
Method 1:
In the "To:" field, I type "(e-mail address removed)" (no quotes)
and then I touch Enter. The "To:" field then displays
"(e-mail address removed)" (no quotes)
Method 2:
In the "To:" field, I type "Bill" (no quotes), but then,
instead of touching Enter, I click on another field. Then
"Bill" remains in the "To:" field in which I had just typed
it, but, its format changes so that the name is now
underlined.
Whew...
Now, here's the problem:
If I send two messages constructed as I have described
above, the two messages leave my Outbox as I would expect,
but #2 is never received, and I never get any error.
So, in summary, if the display name is replaced with the
full email address, all is well, but, if I proceed in such a
way that the display name of the recipient remains visible,
the message appears to be sent, but is never received.
I had certainly thought that it was fine to have the display
name of the recipient in the "To:" field, but clearly that
is not working.
Might you have some idea what is going on here?
Sincere thanks,
