Display Note field in PWA?

I've defined a new new that includes the Notes field in a PWA view, however,
the notes in the project plan are not displaying in the view. Why not?

Open and then save a project. Then open PWA and see if your Notes field for
that project is populated.

I should have said:
Open, Save, and Close a project. Then open PWA and check your view.

Jason M,

Make sure your Tools, Options, collaboration tab setting is set to publish
the task if anything changes. Otherwise, note only changes won't get
published.

The other issue we ran into is that the notes field doesn't wrap. So, once
it get beyond the width of the screen, there's no good way to view it.

Thanks for the input, but I still can not get the Notes field to display. Is
it your understanding that teh "Notes" field that you add to a view in PWA
will pull the task note field from the plan or is the PWA "Note" filed
looking somewhere else?

I tested this quickly and could not get the notes field to show data either.
Project view seems to be the only PWA view that allows you to add the notes
field to.

Jason, is this where you are trying to show it?

Based on Jonathan's testing, I left out a very important piece of information.

If you want to display notes in the Project Center views, only the notes
from the Project Summary task (task 0) can appear. You can test this by
entering a note, then Collaborate, Publish, Project Plan, Project Plan with
Summary option.

If you don't see a task 0, then go to Tools, Options, View Tab, check Show
Project Summary Task.

For all other task notes, they can only appear in the Project views.

Sorry for the confusion.

I wasn't clear enough on my testing. I tested adding notes to a project
task, publishing the task and trying to see the note in a project view in
which I included the notes column. The Notes column shows but has not data
in it.

By the way, Notes is not an available field for Project Center views so even
if you added notes to task 0 you would not be able to display it in Project
Center.

Jonathan,

I'm puzzled that you aren't seeing these fields as they are available in
both Project Center and Project Views in Project Server 2003.

I've got views configured with both views and it works as described. If you
like, send me your email address and I will send you screenshots. (write2tgg

Again, the publish settings are crucial to getting this working correctly.

Hi TGG,

Thanks for the email. I will try to set this up as you instructed and see
if I am able to get it to work.

Sorry, I dropped-off from this discussion, however, I have tried your
suggestion and it works exactly as describe, thanks!

The text is truncated in either the PWA view or when using the "Exporting to
Excel" function. Is there a way to show all the text in the Notes box?
