Display # of risks and issues per project

I have created a new view that lists all the projects and I want to add two
columns. The columns would show the total number of risks and issues
assigned to each project in the view. Idealy, I would like to have the
issue/risk number to be a hyperlink to the issues or risks assigned to that
project. Can this be done without creating a custom web page design? When I
look at the issues page, it has a total count field for the issues listed.
How is this number calculated?

Any help is appreciated.

You will need to link to the Windows SharePoint database to read Issues and
Risks data. Issues and Risks are in the same table with a flag to identify
Issue/Risk. Be aware of the Current Flag because each edit of an Issue or
Risk causes a new row providing complete audit trail.
