display only day

There are many variations when formatting a date. Does anyone know
how to format cells so that the only part of the date that would show
would be the day? Example, month/day/year, 7/19/06. I would like to
show just 19 in one cell 20 in the next and so on, but when the month
is over, I would like the numbers to begin with 1, then 2,3, etc of
the next month. Is there a dated function, macro, anything, that
would help me?

Thanks,

Jim

Select and highlight the column or row you want to use, then hit CTRL+1
(Format Cells window). Under the "NUMBER" tab, select the "CUSTOM" setting.
In the box right below "Type:" on the right side of the window, type the
letter "D" and hit OK. All affected cells should now show ONLY the date.

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to do. I had not attempted to
utilize the custom setting menu. I will look into that more.
