Display street map?

Has anyone done an interface to display a street map based on an address
from within Access?

Are you willing to pay for this service?

You could just link to mapquest or expedia for free...

I don't know what Streets & Trips would do, but it's a MS
product, and might be usable.

Otherwise, MapQuest has a (paid) service that you can
probably use. It's primarily for the web, but would be
easy to use.

Lastly, I know that you can buy the street data, then use
something like MapObjects (www.esri.com) to display it.

Also there's Microsoft MapPoint, which is like Streets and Trips with a
full VBA interface plus data mapping. It even comes with an add-in that
offers toolbar buttons to display maps from addresses in Outlook and
other Office apps - but not Excel, though it's simple to program your
own.

Thanks Chris and John. I looked at the MS product, and the per-seat cost is
pretty high, at least $150/per, and higher without belonging to the "Product
Integration Program". I also looked at ESRI, and it starts at $5,000 for
the developer copy.

I've found another product from Pepperwhite which looks like it may do the
trick at $495 for the developer copy of the Active-X control, royalty free.
It doesn't do everything MapPoint does, ie.e, print text directions, but it
does let me put multiple destination points on a single map, which is what
I'm looking to do.

I also looked at MapQuest, and their software starts at $4,000, so so far
Pepperwhite looks like a bargain.

There is also ESRI MapObjects Lite, which is $1000 for the developer
version, and free runtime distribution. It works pretty well, but does
require programming.

Of course, the background street maps can cost additional dollars from
different vendors, for any of these mapping programs, and you need to
evaluate that as part of the cost. The "free" maps that come with the
products may not be redistributable without additional cost.
