Displaying access database in 320 x 240 resolution

Good Day All

I'm trying to display an access 2000 database on a pocket pc (of 320 x 240
resolution) via Terminal services, but I'm getting this error message : "A
video adapter resolution of at least 640x480 is required to run MS Access".
Is it about some configuration in Access??....

It's kind of urgent.

Hi Lavida,

As far as I am aware Access requires a 640 X 480 minimum. I use SprintDbPro
for my PocketPC and sync the database with the network when I can.
I suspect that you are looking to work remotely on a database using a mobile
broadband connection. It may be possible to execute queries on a remote
database via the PocketPC but you would be asking a lot from the PPC and the
connection.
Alternatively you could try to remote to your desktop using a VNC
connection, however I have no experience in using a PPC for VNC connections.

To the best of my knowledge, the only solution is to turn off screen scaling
in the Terminal Services client. This of course means you have to do a *lot*
of scrolling unless you design small Access forms to fit the screen of the
hand-held device.

I think you'll find that the idea of using an Access app via Terminal
Services on a hand-held has *extremely* limited practical usefulness.

Actually we have Access License, and an access application that we should
work with. I see that your suggestion is interesting Brendan, I'll try that.
But how to turn off the screen scaling?? and where ?? In my server or in the
pocket pc??

The pocket PC. I don't remember the exact location of the setting right now,
but it's there somewhere.

I've looked everywhere in my MX7 pocket Pc for this parameter, no success.

Otherwise, I got this answer in anthoer forum :
"I think the problem is with Access. Form Resizer for Access will let
you resize your .mdb file to fit the current screen resolution. Give it
a try and let me know if worked.

P.S : By the way : I'm using Windows Ce 5.0

Sorry, I can't help with CE 5.0. I'd be very surprised if the option didn't
exist - it's a pretty fundamental option - but of course I could be wrong.

I'm afraid I can't comment on Form Resizer either. I would be surprised if
it solved your problem, but again I can certainly be wrong. If there's a
free trial available, then it can't hurt to check it out.

My opinion remains as I first stated, though - I think you'll find that the
idea of running an Access app via Terminal Services on a device with a
PDA-sized screen has *extremely* limited practical use.

there are MULTIPLE types of SQL Server for a handheld like this..

Maybe this feature doesn't exist in Win Ce 5.0.
Guess I have to forget about this option and focus on other things.
I'll see for examlple If I use PcAnywhere instead of Terminal Services the
problem will persist...
