Displaying Chinese Characters Correctly In Mac Excel 2004

A colleague sent me a Excel file written in Windows environment and it
has Chinese characters. When I open it under Mac Excel 2004, I see only
nonsensical symbols, not Chinese characters. I have tried selecting the
whole spreadsheet and changing it to all the Chinese and Japanese fonts
available but I still cannot get the Chinese characters to display
properly. I spent more than 1 hour scouring the net for help but cannot
find any answers.

Greatly appreciate a solution.

Hi,

I think you will need to have the same font on your computer that was
used to create the document in order to see the same character set.

Ask the file's creator what font was uaed then install it onto your
computer.
