Displaying more than 6 appointments for same time

As above really.

I am using the calendar appointments feature as an
equipment booking system but have now hit the problem
that it will only allow me to have 6 appointments (or
bookings in this case) visible at any one time.

I know that the calendar if probably not meant to be used
this way but I am struggling finding any thing else that
does better.

Is there any way around this?
