Displaying Relationships Fields

R

Rob Diamant

Is there a way to display a relationship so it points to the actual fields
used, something like the way Access displays relationships?
If not, can I have the relationship name use line breaks to look like this:
A.FLD1 = B.FLD1
A.FLD2 = B.FLD3
....

Thanks,
Rob

The relationship lines are controlled by the database solution, and will
change location around the Entity based on internal rules for routing and
placement. So there isn't any way to control the point at which they
connect to the Entity shapes.

There are display options which you can use to add text to the
Relationship, however. Try these steps to explore the options:
1. Select Database from the menu, then choose Options > Document
2. On the Relationship tab, select the option to Show Verb Phrase.
Select whether to include the Forward text, the Inverse text, or both.

By default, the Verb phrases are "Has" and "Is Of", but you can manage that
for each Relationship:
1. Select a Relationship
2. In the Database Properties window, click on the Name category.
3. Change the Verb Phrases to match your desired text.

Secondly, you can create meaningful names for the Relationships, and choose
instead to display those inline:
1. Select Database from the menu, then choose Options > Document
2. On the Relationship tab, select the option to Show Physical Name, click
OK to save.
3. For each Relationship, edit the Physical Name field on the Name category.
