'dissappearing Color-coding' or 'it is dead yet'

I've been fighting with Excel X all day today.
First, despite pushing all the right buttons
a number of times, I had great difficulty
getting the 'formula bar' to display after
misteriously dissappearing. Fortunately, it
displays again. Unfortunately, I've now lost
the color-coding in my equations. That nifty,
beloved feature which allowed me to track
all the cells connected to a formula cell,
that feature is now dead. Any suggestions
for reviving it?

As far as the color coding goes, there is a limit of 32 cell references
in formula color referencing. Do you perhaps have more then 32 cell
references in 1 formula?
