Distorted form

Hello,

I have an Access 2000 application that has been on the market for about 5
years with hundreds of copies being used with no problems.
Yesterday I tested a new setup file, created to be Vista ocmpatible, and I
noticed that on the startup form an embedded image appears shrunk and
shifted.
The machine is a Dell Inspiron XPS laptop running Windows XP.Media Center
Edition. It has a wide screen.

Has anyone seen this?

Any help would be appreiated

Ragnar,
I haven't seen this particular image problem. I have seen a different
problem - a main menu form used a medium sized photo which was linked to a
file in the same folder as the frontend. This worked well for a couple of
years, then suddenly towards last half of 2007, the image appeared shrunk -
many different computers - never tried with Vista, only XP professional. The
only fix I could find was to change the image to a jpeg and embed it. Using
A2003, with database saved as 2000 file format.

Oops, that last post should have the image was saved as a bitmap to embed it
(not a jpeg).

Thanks Jeanette,
Well, this image was already embedded, so I am thinking that it has
something to do with the graphics on this machine. No other machines have
this problem.

I suspect the problem is the "wide screen" you mentioned. I am using a wide
screen now, and have the same problem using XP and Access 2000. I and not
knowledgeable WRT hardware, but it seems the driver (and video card?) insist
on stretching the display to fit the wide screen, even though my control
panel settings are 1024 x 768. Any time I try to fix it, I end up having to
scroll the whole thing - it's worse than before. I just curse it and live
with it.

At least that is two of us. I will get after Dell and/or Microsoft tech
support and find out if there is a fix for it.

Thanks John,

I have not found any other explanation for it, so I guess our client will
just have to live with it.
What makes it a little mor than annoying here is that parts of the shifted
image interferes with some command buttons, making it hard to read the
captions.
But the buttons work, and most users will remember where they are.

Hi John,

I found something that should fix the problem:
Go to the DESKTOP, right click, choose Properties, Settings, Advanced and
choose Normal DPI

Good idea to check the Desktop,Properties, Appearance and make sure that
Font Size is normal too.
