Distributing Macros and Keycombinations

actually, I'm relatively certain the user didn't. She probably saved them to
the default (normal.dot). However, if she creates a new template, based on
the normal.dot, will the macros and keystrokes copy over? Or does she need
to save them in a separate process?

thanx,

Well, if you open any template as a document (via File | Open) and
then use File | Save As, all settings (styles, page layout, macros,
AutoText entries, keyboard assignments) will be transferred. But it
would be more convenient to create the shortcuts directly in the
document containing the macros; that way, they will be available
whenever the "macro template" is loaded into memory.

For some reason, the keyboard assignments do not get transferred. I have
tried it in several different ways; putting the template into the STARTUP
folder, the Templates folder, a folder on a shared network drive. Nothing.
All the macros do show up, but none of the keystrokes work.

your help is appreciated.

Rename the normal.dot file (with Word closed); a new file with factory
default settings will be created when you restart Word. Does that fix
the problem with the shortcuts?

I'll let you know. My guess is that it will, since I was able to use it on a
test machine and get it to work, but I have to get with that constituent to
follow-up to make certain.

thanx again.
