Distribution List too Large

[I just tried to send this but got a page not available message...hopefully
you wont' see it twice]

I recently upgraded a Small Business Server 2003 by including Exchange
Server. Prior to this there was a problem with large (300 or so contacts)
distribution lists. In an effort to resolve this, I broke the large list
down into about 10 smaller lists and then incorporated those 10 into a
'master' distribution list. As far as I can tell, this works OK...but we
have hit one snag.

When we try to delete one member of one of the smaller distribution lists we
get the following message:
"The distributin list is too large to save on your network e-mail server.
Please remove some members or put some of the names into separate, smaller
distribution list which can then be added to this one."

We have a fairly new server with ample hard drive space...any thoughts?

DL size is not limited by hard drive space. Instead it is limited by data
structures within Exchange and depends upon the amount of data in the
contacts the DL references. See if this helps explain it better:
