Distribution lists don't work for me

I have set up distribution lists by following the help to the letter - for
example by cutting and pasting from another email message. The list seems
fine, but when I attempt to use it, Outlook acts as if the name of the list
was an email address and it doesn't recognize it as a valid email address.

I have no idea what Help information you followed. That would be a good
place to start. I know of no reliable way to cut and paste to create a DL
that will work.
It might also be helpful for you to know that DL's work for fewer people
than they don't.
