Distribution Lists in Contacts with Public folder

Hi

Have created a contacts list within a public folder, when
I add a distribution list in Outlook 2000 it is fine, I
can see it. But the people that are using the list can
not (they are on Outlook 97). When I try to create a
distrubtion list as one of them it will not allow me to,
even though they are owners of that folder

Any ideas
