distribution lists show fax numbers- why?

I created a distribution list using contacts from Business Contact Manager.
TWO contacts were created for every ONE record; one contains the email
address and the other contains the business fax number. Any way I can start
over and exclude the business fax numbers from showing up when creating the
dist. list?
