distribution lists

In outlook 98, there was a place in the address book
where every distribution list that a contact was on was
listed. I find that I am sending multiple messages to the
same contact. Where is the information stored about what
lists a contact is on??

You remember incorrectly. There was and is no such feature.
Outlook 98 did not even support Distribution Lists.

Just being curious. Could he have been using a Personal Address Book
Distribution List?

Hard to say since mail support mode was not posted. Just as likely OP was
using IMO mode and groups the Windows Address Book. All we know for sure is
that OP was not using the Outlook Address Book.

My mistake. It was an Outlook Express feature. Doesn't
really matter. The point is, how do I tell if one person
is on multiple distribution lists?

As I said, you can't. Membership in a DL is not a property of a Contact that
is displayed.
