Distribution Lists

I'm creating a distribution list of my clients in order to send out a digital
promotion. I'll probably end up with two or three hundred clients on the
list. But before I send anything, I need a question answered (by anyone out
there who's experienced in sending mass emails via distribution lists). When
I send mass emails to my friends, I often get a message back saying that the
email couldn't be delivered to a certain number of those friends (all of whom
have valid email addresses and who I always email individually with no
problem). The only thing I can guess is that Office Outlook only allows a
certain number of email addresses at once, but I'm only guessing here. And
if that's the case, if I load up a single distribution list with 300 email
addresses, will the email actually go to all of them, or will Outlook kick
back a bunch of them? I've looked in all of the Outlook Help menus and I
can't find any reference anywhere to the maximum number of contacts allowed
on a Distribution List... so, does this mean that a Distribution List counts
as a single email address, even if there are 300 addresses in it, and it will
go through with no problem? I don't want to go to all this trouble, and then
have Outlook kick back 288 of my 300 addresses.
thanks for any insight you can give me.

what you might try is to sign up for
something like freedomlinkup.org

or upload your work to microsoft's
skydrive server and then try to
send your distribution listing the
link to the work instead.

perhaps, it wouldn't be a bad idea
to post your image on a server like
skydrive,

because the date and time it was
uploaded to it, can serve to protect
your copy rights.

Don't even bother with a D/L for that many.
If your version of Outlook supports it, use a Category instead.

When you say you get a message back, what form does the message take?
Is it a message box from Outlook or an email or ???

I used to have similar problems with a different program; turns out that the
mail server at the ISP I was using was either too overloaded to keep up or was
set to throttle the number of emails I could send per minute/hour/whatever. By
tracking the ones that failed, I could re-send them and they'd go through. But
what a pain. I switched to an ISP that didn't assume its customers were all
criminals and haven't had that problem since.

You might check with your ISP to see what their policies are.

I'd also be sure you don't pop a huge list of names into the address or cc list.

Either send individual emails or use Blind Copy for the add'l addresses.

In case you have not solved your problem yet, you can try something else.

Try to arrange with your host to use your large commercial e-mail listing,
if this is the cause.
OR
Open a Gmail account. Configure the account to send messages on behalf of
the account (e-mail address) you wanted to use
Compose your message in Word. Copy and paste it on the Gmail message field
in the web (web mail, not on the Outlook e-mail client). You will be able to
send up to 5 messages per day, which is more than your needs. They will be
all delivered unless theri are problems on the receiving side.

Good luck
