Distribution Size Limit

When a user goes to setup a distribution list (of 311
people) they receive the following errors. (This seems
to be the case for all users.)

"This distribution list has reached the maximum size for
your network e-mail server. No new members could be
added."

"The distribution list is too large to save on your
network e-mail server. Please remove some members or put
some of the names into separate, smaller distribution
lists which can then be added to this."

If you look in Outlook help it will tell you:

"Depending on your e-mail system, there may be size
limits to distribution lists. If your e-mail server tells
you that your distribution list is too large to save, you
can create smaller distribution lists and then include
them in the large distribution list. You can also save a
distribution list to a personal contacts folder."

Which makes you think there should be a setting
somewhere. We are doing several small lists in the
meantime. So far we have not been able to find what is
controlling this limit or how to make the size larger.
Any clues are appreciated!

Thanks

Ask your network mail admin to either increase the maximum allowable size
for DLs or for an exception for this mail.

We have a user who is getting the same basic error when trying to create a Distribution List.
Where in Exchange 2000 can I increase the allowable number of contacts for a Distribution List in a
user's private store?

Thanks.

Milly,

You suggest to "Ask your network mail admin to either increase the maximum
allowable size for DLs...". My question as the network mail admin is "How is
this done"?

Thanks,
Greg
