Distributionlist accidentally deleted - is there, but isn't...!

I have accidentally deleted a distribution list in Outlook 2007. It is not in
the deleted items folder (I have emptied it since). It is nowhere to be found
on my list of contacts.

What I CAN do is create a new email and write the name of the distribution
list in the To field. It comes up perfectly with a + and
highlighted/underlined. I can also click on it and it opens up the
distribution list. Now I can add contacts, change the name of the
distribution list (add a 1 at the end of the original name), save and close.

But when I've finished doing that I can STILL not find the distribution list
in my list of contacts.

What might be the problem, and how can I solve it?

You deleted the DL. All you have is your autocompletion entry. Use it to
create a new DL.

How do I do that?

Once you have expanded the entry in the To: field, just copy the members and
paste them in the Add Members field of a new DL.
