DL MALFUNCTION

I have a distribution list that has two baffling oddities:

1. There is an old e-address that was once part of the list but was
subsequently deleted, yet continues to receive emails sent to the DL.
Curiously, when I choose new message for this DL and click on the plus sign
to see the details, I do not see that address, but the email goes to it
anyway.

2. Conversely, there are three e-addresses at the end of the list (one of
them is mine!) that CANNOT be found in the detail of a new message after
clicking on the plus sign. The message does not go to these three addresses
even they are on the DL when it is opened (i.e., they are on the DL when
opened, but not found in the detailed list of addresses in a new message to
the DL).

Ideas? Thanks.

You forgot that your autocompletion cache is in play here. Change your DL
all you want. It won't matter a bit if you don't also delete the entry in
your autocompletion cache--one of many "gotcha's" when you use Outlook.

But what about the three names that are on the DL but don't appear in the
detailed list of a new message when a new message is sent to the DL?

What about them? You're seeing what's contained in your autocompletion list
entry, not your Contacts.

Here's what I am seeing:

Contacts folder
Click on the DL. This brings up the window that lists all the individual
addresses in the DL, allows me to add or remove names, etc. There are 20
names on the list.
Click on "Email."
A new email comes up with the DL collapsed. I expand it and only see 17
names and addresses.

I don't see what that has to do with the autocompletion list?!

Thanks for sticking with this one.

You're leaving out too much information. Your statement, "Click on 'Email.'
A new email comes up with the DL collapsed" makes no sense. State more
accurately how your are selecting your recipient.
