Hi,
This afternoon my Outlook client stopped being able to send or receive mail.
The application gave error number 0x80040900, with error text stating "the
server name you entered can not be found on the network". If I remove the
server domain name and replace it with the IP address, Outlook works fine.
Web browsing and the command prompt are both working fine; I can get to the
mail servers in Internet Explorer and ping them by domain name from the
command prompt. It is only my Outlook client that is not able to translate
the domain name into an IP address.
I am using Office 2003 Profession SP3 with Windows XP Media Center SP2. I
did download the latest Windows Update patches earlier today, which might or
might not be related. I've uninstalled them using the Add/Remove Software
control panel, and it hasn't fixed the problem.
Any ideas what I should try next?
Thanks,
Jim
