Do I have Office 97 or Office 2000

M

Office 97 SR2
FrontPage 2000 4.02.2717
Windows 98.4.0.222A
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/ --> Check for
updates
-------------------------------------------
I have Office 97 and FrontPage2000 installed on my PC.
However, the Computer (registry??) thinks it has Office
2000 installed and recomends Office 2000 updates. What
should I do? Have the patches and updates configured /
upgraded Office 97 to Office 2000?
I haven't taken the desparation step of removing them both
and re-installing them. Is it necessary or do I actually
have the functional equivalent of Office 2000? Thanks for
your help.

First. The Office update site does not support updates to Office 97. You
can download Office 97 updates from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?langid=20&displaylang=en

Select Office Systems from the top dropdown list and enter Office 97 for the
keyword.

You do have an Office 2000 application installed -- FrontPage. The Office
update is trying to update that application for you. Run the update. Only
the parts applicable to FrontPage 2000 will be installed.

No patch/update will convert your Office 97 to Office 2000.
