Do I need an option group?

I had a list of report names in something I thought was an option group in an
old mdb. I had 2 command buttons - 1 to preview and the other to print. I had
a macro attached to the command buttons to determine which report related to
which option.

I can't seem to duplicate the controls in a new mdb. Is option group what
I'm looking to use? I use macros because I don't know/understand code. Thanks

You could just use command buttons to do that. The command button wizard
should set up both of those functions for you.

An Option Group is used when you only want one Option to be selected at a
time. An OG could be appropriate, if each option had a report name as its
label and the list of reports wasn't too long.

If the list of reports is extensive, a combobox .might be a better choice for
listing them.

TerryC,

Sounds like you might have had the list of reports in a list box. Did you
try opening the old mdb and seeing what type of control it is? Also, what
version is the old.mdb in; you ight be able to convert it and then change
the name of the reports showing in the list.

Thanks to all who have replied.

I have at least 14 reports listed. If I used command buttons wouldn't I need
one for each report? That could be cumbersome.

Isn't a list box similar to a combo box, in that it produces a drop-down
list? I liked the list as my employees need things to be very user friendly.

When I build an option group, the radio button properties name is "option".
When I look at the old version it's name is "button". Does that help you know
what I made last time? How do I know what kind of control the old version
was?

I think I could use the old one since both mdb's are in 2003. I must have
added reports to the old version as time passed. So some of the buttons don't
move with the label and others do. So I was just trying to start clean.

*** No you wouldn't. Each report could be printed from one command button

*** No a list box is not like a combo box no drop down, it;s a box with the
reports in a list, see
http://www.regina-whipp.com/index_files/ReviewProjects.htm Those are list
boxes.

***You highlight the control and look at the top of the Properties Window
while in design mode

*** As long as you found a solution that is what counts but if you ever want
to start fresh Crystal has an excellent tutorial

I had the option group working fine. Today when I opened the mdb option 1 is
the default and I can't select any of the other options. If I put the form in
design view and back to view, the options work. Any suggestions? It responds
the same in 2003 and 2007.
