Do I need an Upgrade or full version for Office Professional 2003?

I have a new laptop that has the trial version of MS Office Standard 2003 and
appears to have MS Works on it as well, though I can't find the disks that
came with the computer. The Works programs are functional. I need MS Office
Professional 2003. I read on Microsoft's website that if I have Works, I only
need an upgrade. And the trial says I am eligible for the upgrade. But I am
not sure that either of these mean an upgrade will work. Does anyone have
insight?

Since I do not know if Works came with my computer since I can't find the
disks, is there a different way to determine if I own it? I found the Product
ID # (OEM) within the software. Does that mean anything?

Also, if the Trial version says I am eligible for an upgrade purchase, then
does that mean I could upgrade to Professional even though the Trial is
Standard?

You may not have been given CDs. Call the computer manufacturer's tech
support team and ask them if they were included and if not, could they walk
you thru how to make a back up disk. Generally they put that stuff on a
hidden partition. You may even have something in the paperwork that came
with your computer that would tell you how to do this. It's worth checking
out.

You cannot use a trial version of software as a qualifying product of an
upgrade. Period.
