Do I need to buy office xp professional?

I

Irving Napert

I just purchased a new laptop to replace my desktop. It
came with microsoft works and xp professional operating
system. It is a toshiba btw.

I tried to load my office 2000 premium software and the
computer tells me it can not find any valid qualifying
software on my machine. Does that means I have to go and
buy some version of office xp immediately.
Please let me know asap your thoughts

Sounds like your Office 2000 is an upgrade , you would need a previous disk
of any of the Office products , Word Excel etc or a previous disk of Works,
or Office.

Because your qualifying product for the Office 2000
upgrade (Works suite) that is preinstalled is a newer
version than what Office 2000 can regonize for the
upgrade you will see that message "1608" although you can
call Microsoft Office technical support at 425-635-7056
and request a bypass CD key number for OFfice 2000
Premium because Microsoft will honor the newer version of
works as eligibily to install the Office 2000 upgrade
edition.
