SP3 for what? Office 2003? It won't affect Office 2007, so not sure what
your question is getting at.

Dear Susan,

You are right. I do mean SP3 for Office 2003.
I use now Office 2007.
Can I or do I need to uninstall the SP3 update as Microsoft 2003 is no more
on my laptop. Will it no affect Office 2007 when deleting SP3 for Microsoft
Office 2003?
Thanks for replying.
Sincerely,
Ben

Dear Susan

Another question for you as you are an expert.
I got the Microsoft Office diagnostic tool run and it told me that another
version of Outlook was installed, though I did uninstall Microsoft Office
2003 ( the whole package). I checked the Ad/Remove panel, Outlook 2003 is
not listed, I've only Microsoft Office 2007 listed.
How can I fix that?
Thanks for replying.
Sincerely,
Ben.

Dear Susan,

You are correct, this is SP3 for Office 2003. Can I delete the SP3 update
without affecting 2007?

Hi,

How can I delete SP3 for Office 2003?
It is shown in the update list but not shown in the installed updates
history...
Thanks for replying.

If it is being shown as a required update, then it sees something on your
system that is Office 2003-related, such as Web Components, or Visio or
something. Check your Windows Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet to
see what Office 2003 components may still be installed. You can then either
choose to install SP3 or uninstall the Office 2003 component(s) you don't
need.

Dear Susan,
Thanks for replying.
No components of Office 2003 are installed on my laptop.
I can see SP3 update in the panel " history of the installed updates" and
not in the "updates installed" panel, is that normal?
Is there a difference between the both panel?
Thanks for replying.

Not sure. What automatic update mechanism are you using? I think you are
trying to remove it from the LIST of updates available to be installed,
since you no longer have any components that require it as an update. Is
that correct?

If the patch isn't installed, then the fact it shows up as a historical item
isn't likely problematic. I wouldn't worry about it, but I may not
understand your entire situation or concern.

Dear Susan,

Thanks for replying.
I'm going to explain to you the issue step by step.

1/ I uninstalled Office 2003, all the files related to Office 2003 ( but I
didn't check the Windows Update panel to delete the SP3 for Office 2003), I
did run CCcleaner, I did reboot my laptop.

2/ I installed Office 2007.

3/ 12 updates were to be installed, I accepted them and they are installed
on my laptop.

4/ I checked the Windows Update panel and I noticed that the SP3 update for
Office 2003 was shown in the panel " Historic of the installed updates, I
noticed that the SP3 was listed, but when I checked in the panel " Installed
updates", the SP3 update is not listed.

Do you get what I mean?

What can I do or maybe is it normal?

Thanks for replying
Ben

Gotcha; thanks for the details. I don't know if that is normal behavior for
Windows Update (someone else may know).

What I would suggest is that you post to the Windows Update newsgroup, as
the functionality of that tool would probably best be inquired about there.

microsoft.public.windowsupdate

That said, I don't think I'd worry about if it isn't affecting the operation
of your system.

Dear Susan,

You are right, I shouldn't worry about it as it isn't affecting Office 2007.
Thanks
