Do not have "save" option in Word

I have a user here that has shoed me that she does not have the oprion to
save in Word from the drop-down. (It is grayed out.) But when you click to
close it does give you the option to save. Any ideas why?

Grayed out Save can be a symptom of a virus, but can also be a symptom of
registry or template corruption. I would first investigate the virus
possibility. If that turns out not to be it, the steps shown here are useful
for tracking down and solving a number of corruption issues, not just
problems in opening Word:
