do you want the following program to make changes to this computer

I bought Windows 7 professional and installed it on my PC. I re-installed
Office 2003 but have some problems. Office worked fine on XP Professional but
now I can not open documents from explorer or my documents etc... The file
associations are correct, and double clicking a document does try to launch
word or excel but everytime I get this error "do you want the following
program to make changes to this computer". If I cliock "No" it does not
launch, if I click "Yes" it launches but does not load the document, instead
I get another error "there was a problem sending the command to the program".
If I open word directly, I still get the first message but it does load, I
can then manually open the document from word. Problem is that error comes up
everytime I start word. I am using an ID with Admin access to the PC. HELP!

Assuming this was a clean installation of Win7, on installing Office 2003
did you then run MSUpdate to install Offfice critical updates.
And then if the problem persists ran Office Detect/Repair?

Have you tried running Word or Excel in compatability mode for XP? I dont
know if the older Office 2003 works with Windows 7.
