doc 1 isn't blank

Somehow when I wrote a letter in Word, it got saved to Doc 1. When Word opens so does the letter. How can I remove this?

With Word closed, find and rename normal.dot to .old. Word will create a
new clean normal.dot that you can customize to your heart's content.
