.doc attachments opening in wordperfect

I recently installed wordperfect x4 on my computer. Now for some unknown
reason all attachments in outlook open in wordperfect, which totally messes
up the formatting since they are .doc files. Short of disinstalling
wordperfect how do I get outlook to revert back to opening attachments in
word?

Right click a .doc file in Explorer and choose Open With, Choose Program,
select Microsoft Word and place a check under Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file.

Try telling Word to reregister itself. Click Start>Run and enter

winword.exe /r

Be sure to include the space. Click OK.
