Doc grays out

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

frequently the doc I am working on will gray out and the find and replace panel will pop up and cannot be cancelled or closed with the red button in the upper left window corner. The doc is inaccessable. The only way I have found to correct this is to quit Word and restart the app. What is happening here? Is there another way to correct this without closing Word?

That's spectacular! I have never seen that one before.

I can only guess that this is a product of Spaces. Word 2008 is not
compatible with Spaces.

There is a fix to this on the way. In the meantime, try turning Spaces off
and see if that fixes it.

Hope this helps
