doc prints from desktop but not from in Word?

Curious one here,

Tried to print a fairly large (96) page doc, from within word, but it just
came up as 'spooling' from within the print manager and gave 'n/a' for the
number of pages. This 'spooling' was actually the lock up of Word and taking
100% of the processor.

However, if one simply selects print from a right click menu of the file on
the desktop, the file goes straight into the spooler with 96 pages instantly
filled in, and gets on with the print job.

I notice that the 'print' properties panels have the HP logo inthe corner
and are less full of options than the set that comes on when working from
within Word. Is there a special set that Word uses that don't work for this
particular file? (Other files are still printing ok).

I also notice that the troublesome file has not appeared in the recently
opened list for Word either?

Can anyone explain?

(I'm sure you can :))

Cheers
