Doc Variables and Form Text fields

I have created a word template in word 2003 with some doc variables inputed
via ActiveX objects from a .net project. It works fine.

When I create a New form text field on that template and after clicking the
"Form Protect" Icon in Forms Toolbar , all the Previous docvariables are get
vanished. I could not get the doc variables ever ?

I need to use both doc variables and form text fields in my document. Is
this possible ? What is procedure I need to do for this ?
