I have a feeling this might be a novel problem. It just started out of
the blue. Some months back, I switched from Entourage x to Mail,
because the messages were searchable. Anyway, just tonight, something
new started. The icons to the right of the little dividing line in the
Dock, where the document, folder, and the trash icons are, have started
to behave strangely. I had an icon for my home folder, and one for my
applications folder. Now when I click on one of them once (this
doesn't happen with the Trash), it starts up Entourage, even though
Mail is my default email program and has been for months. Entourage
brings up a new blank mail message along with the list of recipients
from which to choose. Then I get a message saying "You need to have
Aladdin software installed on your computer before you can attach a
folder to an email". Upon getting this clue, I uninstalled Stuffit
Expander 9.0 and Stuffit Standard 9.0, but this didn't change anything.
So I ended up just throwing away, with a puff of smoke, my home and
applications icons in the Docks. Any suggestions?
Thanks very much
