Docked Entourage window

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

When the Entourage window is docked it does not come back when clicking on the PROGRAM icon in dock but only on the WINDOW icon at the end of the dock, differently from Word or Excel behavior. Any particular reason for that or just a bug? (By the way it was the same in Tiger). No other problem using the program except a longer time to start up (same for all the programs) in 2008!

Thanks

Do you mean when the Entourage main window is *minimized* into the Dock?

Using Entourage 12.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.2 I am able to minimize the
Entourage window into the Dock and then click the Entourage icon in the
Dock to restore the window. Are Entourage 2008 and Leopard fully updated?

Bill,
I confirm you that the minimized to dock Entourage window does not restore and that I have updated both Office and Leopard.

Bill,

I created a new account (I had only one before) and in the new account the behavior is as expected. Back to my account it does not work!

Funny...

Hi Alex!

This makes sense. I suspect he problem is with your Dock preferences.

The first thing I'd try is simply dragging the Entourage icon out of the
Dock and adding it back again. If that doesn't work then try this...

Take a screenshot of your Dock (CAPS lock enabled, Shift-Command-4,
spacebar, click on your Dock). A Picture1.png file will appear on your
Desktop.

Next, move your com.apple.dock.plist file found in
~/Library/Preferences/ where " ~ " is your home folder to your Desktop.
Log out and then log in again. You can use the screenshot to rebuild
your Dock.

If clicking the Entourage icon still doesn't work then you can move your
old com.apple.dock.plist file back in place and replace the new one.

Hope this helps!

Bill,
I did the procedure you suggested but even with a fresh dock with only Entourage added it doesn't work!

Ale, I get the same behavior as you. I'm on a PPC with Leopard 10.5.2. I
believe Bill is on an Intel Mac. If you are on a PPC, this could be the
difference.

Nope, PowerBook G4 here.

The fact that it works under a different Mac OS X account for Alex leads
me to believe preferences are involved.

Hi everybody!

I just want to follow up on my original post: after deleting the plist many times at different intervals throughout this last month, yesterday it finally solved the problem! Did not do any different than before but Entourage is now behaving and is even launching much faster than before (on par with Office 2004 levels). I'm now wondering: would this speed up launching Word and Excel also? Thank you to everybody for your help.
