DocProperty field not inserting in W2007

There is a DocProperty field I am trying to insert into the footer of a W2007
..docm file. The field is available in the list of choices when I choose
Insert> Field> DocProperty. It never appears after I insert it this way.

If it makes any difference, my footer has a borderless table with 2 rows of
3 columns. I have noticed too sometimes when I place my insertion point in
this same table, I get a very fast flickering cursor. What's up with that? I
also went to other places in the main document to see if I could insert the
field there vs the footer but had no success.

Any ideas on why this might be occurring and how to fix it? I did not create
the macros in this document so I am VBA ignorant.

Cayce,

Question 1: Does the specific document property contain a value? If not,
then when it is inserted there is technically nothing to be displayed. The
field is there but because it has no value it doesn't show up.

Question 2: What happens when you select the paragraph in which you insert
the field and toggle the field codes? The result of this operation may answer
your question for you...

Gordon..you were right that there technically wasn't anything there to
display. I ran the macro to give it some "placeholder" content. All is now
well.

THANKS!

No worries! As you might have guessed, this has bitten me before - several
times in fact. It's frustrating as when it happens, and then you feel a bit
"Doh!" when you figure it out. ;-P

Glad I could help.

No idea at all Philomena. I've seen it before on my Dell laptop but just put
it down to some sort of weird artifact of the OS or the video or mouse driver
or something like that.

Maybe start a new post - either here or in the Word General NG - and see if
you can get an answer.
