Docs won't come to "front" automatically

Whenever I have more than one .doc or .ppt open (which is pretty much all the time), a new .doc or .ppt doesn't come to the front when opened. It slots in at the very back, instead. Going to expose and clicking on the file I want doesn't bring it to the front either (even though it shows as "checked" in the menu drop-down). Even clicking on the file's toolbar doesn't bring it to the front. The only thing I've found to work is "bring all to front", which scrolls through all open files until the checked file is eventually placed on top.

Do you have the formatting palette or any of the other palettes from the
Toolbox open? Close this and then try switching applications away from
and then back to your document.

Hope this helps!

I'm not sure but it sounds like you're running Spaces - with which Office
2008 is widely known to not be compatible. I don't claim to know the "whys"
of the matter, nor do I expect any change prior to the release of Snow
Leopard and/or the next major release of Office.
