Document always opens at 200%

A friend of mine is pulling his hair out because whenever he opens a
document (in Word 2003) it always appears at 200% zoom. He has tried
changing
normal.dot and also deleted normal.dot. But the 200% opening persists.
Can you help saving his hair?

A common stone to stumble upon is that changing the zoom ratio only is
not going to pass as a change to Word. IOW, (in Normal.dot), change the
zoom to the desired value, then enter a word. Save. [Close. Reopen.]
Delete the Word. Save.

If that still doesnt cut it, your friend might need an AutoOpen Macro
forcing the zoom ratio.

Can you help saving his hair?

[I'm not very good with my own hair in that regard, I'm afraid! ]

My stocks with my friend have gone up considerably.
