Document Imaging Crashing.

V

victorsm

I am running MS Office 2007 and using the Office Document Imaging program. I
am having two problems and was hoping someone could help. I am scanning in
multiple page documents from canon lde scanner:

1. Random but frequent program crashes when saving tif files of under 12
pages.
2. After about 12 pages, program crashes consistantly when saving tif files.

Has anyone any suggestions as to possible patches or corrections.

Hi Victor,

Is this something that started after a recent update, or installation of software? There can be problems with using a multidocument
feeder, and there are some issues with some Canon scanners after Office 2007 SP1

In some cases the hotfix available through this article can help with that

Did your scanner come with a CD with its own scanning/OCR software and are you using that software or MS Office Document scanning to
scan into MS Office Document Imaging? Do you get the same result using both scanner software brands?

In your scanner option settings are you using a TWAIN or WMA driver choice?

Are you on WinXP or Vista and have you checked the Canon website for an updated driver and the scanning software with the scanner?

What are the parameters you're setting for the scanned images (quality, density etc)?

If you create a new preset in MS Office Document Scanning, from scratch, do you get the same result?

No it been present since I first used the document image scanning feature of
MS Office.

Yes, the canon comes with its own scanning software on CD, however I am not
using it. I only installed the driver for the scanner and exclusively use
the MS Office Document Imaging Software

Do you get the same result using both scanner software brands?

N/A

In your scanner option settings are you using a TWAIN or WMA driver choice?

Twain: There are multiple choices and I have tried both of them with the
same result.

Are you on WinXP or Vista and have you checked the Canon website for an
updated driver and the scanning software with the scanner?

Win XP Professional SP3

What are the parameters you're setting for the scanned images (quality,
density etc)?

The defaults for the device as delivered to me with the Canon CD

If you create a new preset in MS Office Document Scanning, from scratch, do
you get the same result?
I have not tried this

I have since contact MS support and they have not helped at all. I am still
at a loss and it is to the point where I may have to abandon the product and
use an alternate vendors software such as Nuance’s Scansoft. If you have any
other suggestions please let me know.
