"document in use by............."

I have O/S Winxp and Office 97.

Recently we get the above error, and ther name of "in use"
by whoevers account is logged on at the time.

* I have tried:
* Re-installing Winxp & Office.
* Re-setting folder defaults.
* Cleaning out Temp documents, own use directories, shared
directories and system directory.

This has had no effect, aanother minor problem is system
reloads when trying to create a new folder (is this an
associated fault?).

Any ideas?
