Someone from Iran submitted a manuscript in English and I am trying to
proofread it.
The things I am seeing:
1) the paragraph text is right-side aligned...PERSISTENTLY
2) when characters are typed in, the text is entered from the right and not
the left, and characters move right->left
3) the paragraph mark is at the left side PERSISTENTLY
4) when you click the left-aligned paragraph tool on the Word 2010 ribbon,
the paragraph actually becomes right-aligned
5) selecting all the text of the document and setting Language as U.S.
English---it was "Persian"---has not correct the condition. Click inside
the affected paragraphs, and it shows "U.S. English" now, but the formatting
resists change
6) going to Style and modifying Normal and deleting non-standard styles and
setting defaults does not seem to correct the problem
7) Nothing under File->Options shows any setting that might correct it
8) Cutting out the whole text and pasting it in a new document opened with
normal settings has no effect. It just brings whatever settings there into
it.
9) Re-typing the text is not something I am willing to do, since I am just a
proofreader.
It's like an anti-matter universe in a matter universe.
Anyone have an idea?
