Document is locked for editing

Hi Folks,
I have a file server where people access files and so on. My user has Office
2000 updated and was in a document. Automatic Update restarted her computer
while she was at lunch. The document is now locked by 'another user' for
editing, but that was her who was using it so no one is in it yet it is
locked. What can I do do reset the access to this file?
Thanks!
Matt

Hi Matt,

You could probably just save under a different name, but it's better to
clean up the mess:

Delete the "owner file" which Word uses to lock access. It's named something
like ~$YourFileName.doc, maybe a bit different if you've multiple owner
files for that same file from several crashes.
Doesn't hurt to search and get rid of all temporary Word files while you are
at it (~*.do?,*.tmp).

Greetings,
Klaus
