Document Libraries in Project Workspaces

I apologize if this is more of a SharePoint question. In the project
workspace document library, when I go to add a new document, the only type
listed is a MS Word format. (I can upload any type of document of course).
Is there a way to change the menu to allow a user to choose from Word, Excel,
PowerPoint or other types of documents, when they select the "New" Document
menu?

Thanks for your suggestions.

You can only set the default type (powerpoint, excel etc) for when you create
a new document, rather than being able to choose the actual type of document.

Mitch,

you can have more items appear in the "New" button if you enable Content
Types on that document library and add the content types you want to use
inside it (you have to first create them inside the site collection).

Fabrizio,

Thanks for your response. I have figured out how to create the content
types, and now have added them to the "New" documents list. Thanks for
pointing me in the right direction.

Hi,

I would also like to have different content types (with office templates) in
my project workspace like i normally have in sharepoint. This seems to work
exactly the same in project. To be able to link documents to project
processes, I assume that I have to inherit from the default Project Workspace
content type for documents which is called "Project Workspace Document". The
problem is that I cannot find this content type in the content type list for
the PWA-SiteCollection. Is there any possibility to provide different
office-templates in the default project document library (in the new-menu)
without loosing the link-mechanism?

Thanks for any suggetions,
Daniel

Here's a blog on how to do the same thing for Risks and Issues. Documents
should be the same.

Project is looking for specific columns attached to documents in that list.
Content types don't have much of an impact on Project Server - as long as
you instantiate your content types in the appropriate list, and then add
the correct list-level metadata columns to the content type.
