"Document Map" view cannot be turned off

This problem just cropped up for no apparent reason.
When I reply to an email in MS-Outlook, the Document Map
view mode is automatically chosen. I can manually turn
it off in the View dropdown, but it can't be turned off
permanently. Any ideas? Thanks.
